Meet Our Newest Designer:
Kim Cowles
Where are you from?
San José, Costa Rica.
Tell us a little bit about you.
I’m a self-taught graphic designer based in Fargo with a tiny obsession with visual arts. If I’m not working, I’m probably drawing or taking an online course.
If there was a movie about your life, who would play you and why?
Probably Katherine Langford because some people think I kinda look like her.
What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
I love learning new stuff, so I’m normally watching tutorials or taking an online course.
What’s a ridiculous fact about yourself?
I could live my whole life just eating pasta.
What part of your position provides the most value?
Create eye-catching designs for our magazines.
Tell us about your experience.
I studied Marketing and Digital Communication in Costa Rica, where I got the opportunity to learn more about Photoshop. After winning a contest I started working for an agency for a year and 4 months where I learned everything I know about graphic design. After moving to the U.S I worked another 7 months for them and then I tried freelancing for almost a year and 2 months.
What part of your job do you believe makes the most impact?
Being able to communicate any message with a design.
Why does our community matter to you?
Because I’m also part of it, and if there is a way to make it better, I want to be part of it.
