FAQs

Geofencing FAQs

How exactly does geofencing work?
A “geofence” is essentially a virtual perimeter in a physical environment. The geofence can be a simple radius, but for more precise ad delivery, custom polygons can be created.
There are no geographical restrictions on geofencing. However, there may be restrictions on the types of advertising permitted in specific areas.
Very! The accuracy of geofencing technology does depend on several factors, including the quality of the GPS or RFID technology used, the size and shape of the geofence, and the location of the mobile device. In general, GPS-based geofencing is more accurate than RFID-based geofencing. However, both methods can achieve an accuracy as precise as 10 meters.

The most commonly tracked metrics are impressions, clicks and click-through rates. Spotlight can also track offline visits, or the number of users who entered a custom location after visiting the geofenced area. In addition, performance metrics can be provided for different types of devices—phones, tablets, and computers.

Why Spotlight

Access to Actual Data

Our access to data for Geo Fencing and device ID is unparalleled. It’s a one-to-one device match that’s verified and made available for marketing campaigns. We don’t use assumptive data to verify user location information.

Verified Before Using

The device ID data used by Spotlight is specific to latitude and longitude and is not accessible through a data pool until it’s been fully verified.

Easy Access to
Geo-spatial data

We provide access to third party data, which enables us to match devices back to home addresses and match that data to publicly available information about the people who live at those addresses. We leverage available geo-spatial data and make it accessible to target in a programmatic advertising campaign.
